About the Stakeholder Interests Working Group

The purpose of the actuarial standards which the BAS Conceptual Framework seeks to define is largely to help users of the resulting actuarial advice take decisions based on it. Such users must therefore contribute to the work of the BAS as well as to that of the Professional Oversight Board (POB).

The BAS and POB have established a Stakeholder Working Group to ensure that the views and needs of users of actuarial advice, and the wider public, are fed into their work.

The Group comprises those familiar with taking decisions based on actuarial input (such as pension trustees and representatives of the insurance world) as well as people with a particular concern with the "end-user" - the beneficiaries (such as policy holders or pension scheme members) and the public interest. Thus journalists and consumer advocates are also members.

The Group welcomes contributions and relevant material. Please email e.brown@frc.org.uk.
